Fixes #1071

Summary

test_atomic_write_text_new_file_uses_umask_default and test_atomic_write_bytes_new_file_uses_umask_default previously called os.umask(0o022) at runtime. However, file_utils deliberately captures _UMASK once at module import, so modifying the process umask during test execution has no effect on the code under test.

On hosts where the ambient umask is not 0o022 (for example, Ubuntu user accounts with default umask 0o002), these tests fail with AssertionError: assert 436 == (438 & ~18).

Changes

  • Use pytest's built-in monkeypatch fixture to override file_utils._UMASK directly to 0o022.
  • Remove the runtime os.umask call and try...finally block, avoiding process-global state mutations.

Verification

  • Verified on a host with ambient umask 0o002:
    • Before: AssertionError: assert 436 == 420 (both text and bytes tests failed).
    • After: both test_atomic_write_text_new_file_uses_umask_default and test_atomic_write_bytes_new_file_uses_umask_default passed.
  • Ran full test suite in tests/comfy_cli/test_file_utils.py: 43 passed.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • Tests
    • Updated permission tests for text and byte file writes to use a mocked umask while retaining checks for newly created file permissions. The tests no longer change the process-wide umask; end-user behavior is unchanged.

Explain Change →

Walkthrough

The text and bytes new-file permission tests now set file_utils._UMASK with monkeypatch instead of changing the process umask. Both tests retain the expected file mode assertion.

Changes: Umask test isolation

Layer / File(s) Summary
Set captured umask in mode tests
tests/comfy_cli/test_file_utils.py
The text and bytes tests mock file_utils._UMASK as 0o022. Both continue to assert that the new file mode is 0o666 & ~0o022.

Full details: Title check

Explanation

The title names the change accurately: the two new-file umask tests in tests/comfy_cli/test_file_utils.py now patch file_utils._UMASK with monkeypatch instead of calling os.umask. The title is short, single-sentence, and uses the conventional test(scope) prefix. It is specific enough for a teammate scanning history to identify the primary change.

Full details: Out of Scope Changes check

Explanation

[#1071] The whole-PR diff against the merge base changes only test_atomic_write_text_new_file_uses_umask_default and test_atomic_write_bytes_new_file_uses_umask_default in tests/comfy_cli/test_file_utils.py. Each now patches file_utils._UMASK with monkeypatch and removes the runtime os.umask save, set, and restore. No product code under comfy_cli/ changed. This matches the issue scope. The unrelated environment-sensitive failures noted in the issue are not touched by this PR, which is correct for this scope.

Full details: Docstring Coverage

Explanation

No eligible functions found in the changed files. Skipping docstring coverage check. Docstring coverage is scoped to functions touched by this diff with cyclomatic complexity of at least 2. Documentation-only edits and deletions within surviving functions are included; unchanged diff context and fully deleted functions are excluded. Analyzed 0 functions across 1 files.

Full details: Linked Issues check

Explanation

[#1071] Both new-file tests now call monkeypatch.setattr(file_utils, "_UMASK", 0o022) and no longer change the process umask. _apply_destination_mode reads the module-level _UMASK at call time in its fallback branch (0o666 & ~_UMASK), so the patch affects the code under test. The issue also requires an extra case for a non-0o022 umask (for example 0o077, expected mode 0o600). The whole-PR diff against the merge base changes only the two tests, and both still use only 0o022. The required non-0o022 case is missing, so the issue requirement is not met.

Resolution

In tests/comfy_cli/test_file_utils.py, add a non-0o022 umask case for the new-file tests. Patch file_utils._UMASK to 0o077 with monkeypatch, then assert stat.S_IMODE(os.stat(target).st_mode) == (0o666 & ~0o077) for atomic_write_text and atomic_write_bytes. Parametrizing over 0o022 and 0o077 is acceptable.

Test a second umask.

Both controlled tests accept a hardcoded 0o644. The download test can detect that regression only when the ambient umask produces a different mode. Add 0o077 to one atomic writer test to cover the shared fallback deterministically.

test_file_utils umask tests assert against a umask the code never reads (import-time _UMASK), so they only pass on a 0o022 host
